Today, we traveled to a community that some of our team had visited in years past! It was fun to get to hear their memories of interactions with community members and see reunions occur this morning when we arrived. We were set up in a school today, complete with plenty of shade, the ability to have fans blowing in the clinic, and even a nice flat surface to play soccer!

More team members gave out their crosses today: Kim, Dr. Dave, Sara and Blaine. Three were given to patients that they had shared a meaningful connection and interaction with. For Kim, it was a woman who was being seen for a condition she had been struggling with for over a year. With the help of Dr. Dave, Kim came up with a plan to hopefully provide some relief to this woman. Dr. Dave’s cross was shared with an elderly man who seemed happy just to be alive, and one of the first few patients he saw today. Sara’s cross was shared with a toddler with developmental delays, who, with the help of the Honduran FOBF team, will receive resources and support necessary for her to thrive.  Blaine’s cross was given to a young boy who wasn’t actually being seen at the clinic but attends the school. He anxiously waited until Blaine was done and ready to play soccer with him, followed by teaching him some Spanish at the end of the day!

Tonight, many of our team shared the bittersweet feelings of tomorrow being our last day. As the week has progressed, processes, charting systems, and the general flow of the day have gotten easier, but we are sad that tomorrow is our final day of clinic. Our team has grown close, and it will be hard to not share early morning breakfasts and end of day devotions together.

While we thankful the rain held off on us in the community today, we are keenly aware of the hurricane targeted to hit the southern parts of the US in the coming days. We spent some time praying over loved ones of our team who are in the path of the storm and will continue to pray over all the families who may be impacted. We trust and believe that the Lord is our protector and peace, and He is in control of it all! Please continue to pray for our team as we head out to our last day and prepare to depart for the US on Saturday!
