This morning we got an early start to the day by having a breakfast with all of the Friends of Barnabas staff at 6:30. We were able to talk with the staff and get to know them a little more as we work alongside them everyday. We headed out to the village and got there around 8:30. Once again, we were greeted by lines of local villagers awaiting our arrival and eager to help unpack the supplies. We immediately felt that today was going to be a special day.

The majority of the people seeking treatment were children, and they all loved playing soccer, chatting, and learning hand games. Since we arrived to the village early, the people weighing and measuring children were able to spend the rest of the afternoon playing with kids. We connected with everyone on a more personal level, which made today our favorite day so far. Everyone who received care was extremely grateful and friendly, which made the experience even more enjoyable.

Many of us gave away our crosses today to children from the village. When we were finished treating patients, all of the locals helped us load the equipment back onto the bus. During our ride home, the heavens opened up and starting pouring down rain so hard we had to drive through about two feet of water to get back to the Alfredo House. We had a delicious meal of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and broccoli with a sweet corn ginger lime cake for dessert. After eating we debriefed for the day to share our God moments and other exciting stories before going to bed.
