On Thursday, November 13, 2013, Julie Peters, one of our most dedicated team members and dearest friends, passed away surrounded by her husband, John, and her two sons, Mark and Matthew. John wrote "Julie received relief from her illness and was at peace in death and experienced God's grace."
Julie traveled to Honduras with Friends of Barnabas many times as a nurse with Mountain Medical Teams and Cardiac Teams. She learned Spanish to better serve the people of Honduras and used her skills at Crossover Clinic as well. She made the difference in the lives of so many with her love and her caring touch.
We cannot think of anyone who embodied the spirit of our work, what we do and what we stand for more than Julie. She was an inspiration through the three-year fight against her illness. She was a model of courage, compassion, faith and love to everyone who crossed her path.
There will be a Memorial Service of Death and Resurrection at Trinity United Methodist Church, 903 Forest Avenue, Richmond, on Monday, November 18, at 1:00 p.m.
The FOB staff, at the Central Office and in Honduras, wishes to express our deepest sympathies to Julie's family at this time of great loss and our most sincere gratitude for the time that we shared and served alongside this amazing woman. Let us all remember to love one another, as Julie did.
We wish you peace, dear friend.
