Nurse Certification
Friends of Barnabas hosted its first training conference specifically for Neonatal Intensive Care nurses during the fall of 2018. Thirty-five nurses and physicians listened to presentations about basic care modalities and measures for infants in the NICU. Changes in care were seen immediately.
The following year, a conference was held discussing the respiratory needs of newborns. Again, changes in care were seen immediately.

In the fall of 2019, FOB hosted the first nursing certification program for NICU nurses entitled S.T.A.B.L.E. Thirty-five nurses and physicians were certified.
This course teaches methods of stabilization for sick newborns.
FOB is presently the beneficiary of a Rotary International Vocational Training matching grant, which will allow us to work toward having the S.T.A.B.L.E. certification course sustainably managed by Honduran NICU nurse instructors in the years to come.
